Uuugh... I suck at Blogging ---- Also, Metro Hates ME.

Disclaimer-- I drafted this like 3 weeks ago and never posted it. Super Bloggy Fail!

So.... One of us got hit by a stupid Metro bus today. Well... it didn't hit ME, but it did run into what was once the perfect bumper of my perfect car. EFF!

I did not fall out in the middle of the street and expect to collect millions from Metro, but I did get all tearful and weepy because:

1- I was late for work

2- I've never been in an accident before

3- LOOKATMYSTUPIDBUMPER

4-Well... it could have been worse

5- Uuugh My hair! Honestly?!?

Officer handsome was on the scene and I was the perfect victim. Except who the devil knows where their insurance card is when they need it the most *side eye to myself*

Mr. Metro got a ticket and was on his way. SMH. Who knew it was that easy?

Anyway-- I thought I was fine, but then my back decided it was best if I went to the ER. In and out. Score one for Southern MD!

So now I'm all drugged up, on the sick and shut in list, obviously, and waiting for a super lawyer to fatten my pockets... or at least make Metro pay for my car.

Whatever.

And then there was my knee... and it still hates me.

So... My knee got all sassy pants on me and decided to tear its own meniscus. Suckful. I wish I could say it was from some glorious sports injury or something... but no. That's not my story. Apparently walking and sitting has become somewhat of a danger zone for me.

Thanks 30. You win!

And who knew that you couldn't fix a meniscus with a heating pad and extra cuddles??? Surgery was NEVER an option for me!

There's something awesome to be said about peeing at home without having to grab the sink and the towel rack on the wall just to make it happen. My 29 year old knees would never have betrayed me this way.

And the brace... OH. THE. BRACE! Super Ugly... super velcro'y... and not full of sparkles and dazzle.

Am I whining??? Obviously. But your knees work so suck it!


And I mean that in the most lady-like way possible.

And Then there was.... milk

*sigh* I may have thrown away a half-gallon of milk yesterday because it smelled "too milky"...

...Or not. Whatever.

Except that I did and it made perfect sense to me. I called my mother, and she was all " Why didn't you taste it to see if it was good or not???"

If I don't like the way it smells then it gets tossed.... We don' t taste something to see if its okay or not. If' it's not okay then who really wins???? The milk? That's not a loss I'm willing to take!

Then I was sorta pissed because Fruity Pebbles were calling my name and "super milky" milk just wouldn't do.

Day ruined??? Obviously!

I'm so fluke!!! Day 06 was like 22 days ago! Up next-- Super Freda

So... I'm a 30 day blog challenge FAILURE! Day 01 - 05 seemed super easy, but day 06 just never seemed to happen! I was supposed to write about my favorite super hero... and I clearly don't have one. Don't even know which super heroes (heroes???) are out these days. Can I just make this a love song to Mighty Mouse??? He's clearly the only one I remember! *Cuteness*

I will talk about my real hero tho. My Momma. Who woulda thought?!??! The lady who I thought lived to get on my nerves. The one who I rolled my eyes at the most, and cussed at under my breath! Yep... Alfreda. Queen of the backhand! The best who ever did it! This lady is the reason why I'm me. I've seen her hold it down as a single mother, and as a wife, and she made it look effortless. I couldn't pick a pair of better footsteps to follow in. My rock. My everything.

So yeah. Ma, you're my Day 06. Sorry it's so late. I know you frown upon tardiness!

It's always a good day when you get a phone call from Air Force 1...

So... the DR just called us from freakin Air. Force. One. where he is onboard, flying home with President Obama after completing meetings overseas. Is it okay for me to ask him to bring me some Air Force One peanuts???? I think my life needs those! Like for serious.

This job has been amazing.... Week two has been full of long hours, missed flights and schedule changes, but I feel more blessed than ever to be experiencing all of it.

I've definitely become the chick I never wanted to be... Wearing sneakers with my stockings and socks and keeping pumps at work for meetings and such. Blackberry stuck in my hand whenever I leave the desk, totally engrossed with my inbox. I might just LIVE for this!

Day 02 of my New Job....

I've been at work for an hour and a half and am about to go home sick.

They must feel SO lucky to have me! LOL.



I tried to be a champ and work through it but I hate to be the chick coughing all over everything at work, so back to bed I go.

So... today I started a new job... working for "The DR." It might just be my dream job. When he walks in a room, I kinda forget how to breathe. Not sure if one person should have so much power.

As much as I will miss my old office, friends and coworkers, I am a bit of a smitten kitten about this new position. More power? Yes. New Title? Yep. Fancy new wardrobe? Of course!

The 12 hour days could be a cause for divorce from what seems like perfection... but I'll wait until day 2 to decide.

Okay... so I totally love when someone I'm close to is pregnant. I get to witness some of the most special times that are experienced when carrying a baby.

Having to pee every 10 mins

Not being able to cross your legs

Not being able to see your feet

Not being able to eat what previously were your favorite foods.

Swollen Feet

Uncomfortable sleeping

You know... the BEST. Times. EVER!

Pregnant women are my new best friends... whether I know you or not. My womb thanks you!

One of my faves is preggers and I have seen all of the tummy lovin her little one is giving her daily.

So I say to you dear baby "Katrica" , all of the joy that you're giving your mommy right now has added at least two years to my womb vacancy!

Okay so pregnancy really is a magical time. So happy for the mommies to be. :-)

Day 05-- A Picture of somewhere you've been

So in October of 2008 I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Pretoria, South Africa to help the USAID Mission with their Country Operational Plans.

It was the longest flight EVER! 18.75 hours. Well... Actually it was 18.75 hours of first class heaven! Super swanky First Class airplane socks, champagne upon arrival to my seat. Fancy meals with real silverware. I was living like a queen on that flight. Free eats, free movies and NO ONE sitting beside me. Only suckful thing was that I had the worst cold ever. Uuuugh... stupid Maryland Cold Season!

I was scheduled to be there for 3 and a half weeks. I certainly couldn't go that long without some company, so my mother joined me for 10 days in the middle of my trip. It was wonderful. A life changing experience. The weather was beautiful... 80 degrees. Shorts and Flops Even! The US would have been so proud at how I represented them.

Day 04-- A Habit I wish I didn't have

I don't really think I have any bad habits besides popping gum... and that only happens in the privacy of my house or car. Usually. Sometimes. I think.

I can tell you bad habits other people have that I hate!

Biting their nails

Chewing on the nails that they just bit

Making noise when you chew/eat

Scraping silverware on your plate. UUUUUGH

Grinding their teeth

Excessive Sniffling... Please just go blow your nose.

I think these are the wort of them... I'm sure I could revisit this list later and come up with more.

Until then, I'll just pop my gum in peace!

So... This picture makes my soul smile. King, Me, Phonzo, Meka, S.Dot and Jay at Martin's Crosswinds for some event that I don't remember circa 2000'ish. I think an Awards Banquet but I could have made that up.

I super seriously LOVE everyone in this pic even though it's been so long since we've crossed paths.

And I love that I have on a sweater duster with a fur collar! Ha!

The fun boys cleaned up quite nicely I might add!

I selfishly cropped myself out of the pic because my hair that day fills me with the sads, but these ladies are the reason I love my job. Don't know how I'd make it all day without them.

Day 02—The meaning behind my blog name.

So my blog has had two names: Dija vs Diva, and, And then there was Me...

Dija vs Diva was born randomly. I wanted to separate the nickname "Diva" from who I am: Khadija. "Diva" was seen as a stuck-up, spotlight loving snobish chick. Kept her nose in the air and was always ready to take a picture! Those closest to me know that was a facade. A shield to protect me from low self esteem and self doubt.

Those that really know me will agree that Khadija is far from that... Keeps to herself, Shy, fades into the background kinda chick. Nice to a fault IMO. Although I still am always ready to take a picture :o)

And then there was me... signifies the whole of me. Thoughts, fears, successes and failures and it truly acknowledges that when all else fails I still have Me.
